How can a gift of just $1,000 have a meaningful and long-term impact on Jewish communities in Rhode Island and Israel?

This powerful effect comes from collective investment with Women’s Alliance Endowment Fund (WAEF) of the Jewish Federation Foundation. The fund has grown significantly since its 1993 inception with more than 130 membership contributions of $1,000 each. Every WAEF member has a voice in the annual grant program that supports educational, health, cultural, and social services and programs.

Since 1997, the WAEF has distributed nearly $155,000 in grants to a variety of organizations in Rhode Island and overseas. In 2024, allocations totaling $10,600 were awarded to the following programs:

Local:

• Congregation Sha'arei Tefilla -- $700 for Women's Day of Inspiration
• Jewish Collaborative Services -- $1,700 for Rosh Hashanah Recipes and Ingredients for Kosher Food Pantry Customers
• Jewish Community Day School -- $1,200 for Universal Design Learning (UDL) Training
• Temple Emanu-El -- $800 for Women's History Month Series
• University of Rhode Island Hillel -- $1,400 for Israeli-American actress/writer Iris Bahr

Israel:

• Beit Ruth Educational and Therapeutic Village -- $1,000 for Promoting Physical and Emotional Health for At-Risk Girls Through Sports
• ELI: Israel Association for Child Protection -- $800 for Sex Education and Abuse Prevention for Girls
• Emunah Afula Children's Center -- $1,000 for Strengthening Parent-Child Bonds
• The Feuerstein Institute -- $1,000 for Academic Integration of Ultra-Orthodox Women
• Jaffa Institute -- $1,000 for Welfare to Wellbeing

Request for Proposals

The WAEF welcomes grant proposals every spring from Jewish organizations and synagogues in Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts, and Israel whose missions fall within the purview of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island.
