I hope you’ve had a great week. The last two weeks my family and I have been glued to our televisions. We love the Olympics, watching the world’s best athletes compete against each other and to do so under the banner of their country. It’s been incredible watching Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, Noah Lyles, the USA Basketball teams, and many others represent our country so well.
What you likely don’t know is that last week, Rhode Island was represented at what some call the Jewish Olympics. Each year, teens from across the country come together for the JCC Maccabi Games. It’s an opportunity for Jewish athletes to compete against each other while also celebrating the Jewish heritage and culture that unites them. And I’m excited to share that our teen athletes made us very proud, snagging gold medals in basketball and in tennis! You can learn more about these tremendous athletes in the next issue of Jewish Rhode Island, but on behalf of our entire community, I wish them all a hearty Mazel Tov!
Finally, today, I want to ask for your help. For the last seven years I’ve had the privilege to work alongside an incredible team of staff dedicated to this community and making it the vibrant and thriving place that it is. The Alliance is an incredible place to work, and we have a few open positions that we are hoping to fill. Right now, we are looking for early childhood teachers, someone to manage our work fighting antisemitism, a journalist and podcast host for Jewish Rhode Island, as well as a director of human resources. You can learn more about each of these roles by clicking here.
If you know anyone that would be a good fit, or if you are interested in applying, please share the information or let us know. It is our great people that help make this an incredible community, and we’d love to have you join us.
Until next time, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and joyous Shabbat.
Shabbat Shalom,
Adam Greenman
