I hope you’ve had a great week. Last week my family and I took a vacation to Munich, Germany. It was the first time for all of us, and it was an incredible city to visit. There is so much life to the city, but there are reminders everywhere of its connection to World War II and the Holocaust. None more than our visit to Dachau.
While I’ve been to several Holocaust memorials and museums in my life, and while I had seen the horrible images of what happened in each of the concentration camps, I don’t think anything quite prepared me for the experience of visiting one myself.

I wanted to share these reflections with you because as we get further from the Holocaust, as more survivors pass away, the importance of bearing witness becomes much greater. It’s one of the reasons why the work of the Alliance, the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center, and our synagogue and agency partners throughout the state, is so critical. If you have the opportunity to take a similar trip, I highly encourage you to do so. To witness firsthand so you too can share the experience with others.
Until next time, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and joyous Shabbat.
Shabbat Shalom,
