All week I have been watching the awful images from Los Angeles as wildfires have destroyed so much, including at least one synagogue in Pasadena, and continue to upend the lives of so many. Our hearts go out to those impacted by this disaster.

In moments like this, I think we all look for a way to help. The Jewish Alliance is partnering with the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, who has developed a fund to help the victims of the fires. There will be significant long-term needs as communities rebuild, and if you are able to, I'd encourage you to support this effort. You can do so by clicking here. Join me in sending a message to our neighbors in Los Angeles that we are all part of the same community, that we are all one people.

Dear Friend:

I want to use this first Shabbat message of the year to express my gratitude to our incredible staff at the Alliance, who work tirelessly to ensure we have the vibrant, thriving community that we have come to expect.

I have said before that having a strong community doesn’t just happen. It happens because of the support that all of you provide, but even with that, it could not happen without our incredible staff, who do the little things and the big things every single day to provide support for everyone we serve.

I could go on and on and name every single Alliance staff member. Each of them plays a unique role in making our community a better place, and I’m grateful to all of them for what they do. With their incredible work, and your incredible support, I know 2025 is going to be another great year for our community.

Until next time, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and joyous Shabbat.

Shabbat Shalom,
Adam Greenman
