The Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island joins with global Jewish communities in welcoming the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The anticipated release of hostages provides a glimmer of hope during an immensely painful time. 

We acknowledge the fragility of this ceasefire agreement, but we remain hopeful that this will allow for the safe return of hostages, opportunities for humanitarian aid, and create a potential foundation for broader dialogue. We also acknowledge the ongoing toll of this war — on human life, on families, and on the innocent Israeli and Palestinian people.  

A cessation of violence is vital for addressing urgent needs and fostering pathways to peace. Together, we pray for the safe return of all hostages and for a peaceful and secure Israel.
